A fantastic programme has been announced for this year’s ICMA Gala

Six conductors, 11 soloists. The ICMA and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf will present a spectacular awards gala on 19 March. The astonishingly rich programme for this gala celebration will be performed by the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra.

With no less than six conductors, three singers, and eight instrumental soloists in a programme ranging from baroque to contemporary, this is one of the most diverse ICMA Gala Concerts ever.

The Award Ceremony, hosted by ICMA President Remy Franck and Secretary General Nicola Cattò, will take place at 5 p.m. in the Helmut Hentrich Hall, and the concert will follow at 8 p.m. in the Mendelssohn Hall.

The detailed programme is the following:

  • Beethoven: Leonore Overture No. 3, Op. 72b (DSO, Adam Fischer – Winners Special Achievement Award)
  • Hindemith: Die vier Temperamente, Var. IV (Anna Gourari, piano – Winner Assorted Programs)
  • Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No. 1, Finale Allegro con fuoco (Can Sarac, piano – Discovery Award)
  • Silvestrov: Serenade, Viktor Kosenko: Dreams (Gidon Kremer, violin – Lifetime Achievement Award)
  • Popper: Hungarian Rhapsody, Op. 68 (Ettore Pagano, cello – ICMA Classeek Award)
  • Charles Gounod; Je m’efforce en vain de te plaire, Romance de Ben Saïd (Le Tribut de Zamora) (Jérôme Boutillier, baritone – Winner Premiere Recordings)
  • Händel: Music for the Royal Fireworks, Overture (Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, conductor – Artist of the Year)
  • Christoph Ehrenfellner: Wiener Blut 200 (World premiere conducted by the composer) – Composer Award
  • Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3, Finale Presto (Can Cakmur, piano – Winner Solo Instrument)
  • Tchaikovsky: Pezzo Capriccioso, Op. 62 (Benjamin Kruithof, cello – Young Artist of the Year)
  • Mahler: Revelge (Samuel Hasselhorn, baritone, Lukasz Borowicz, conductor – Winners Vocal Music)
  • Vivaldi: Stabat Mater (exc.) (Andreas Scholl, countertenor, Alessandro Tampieri, conductor – Winner Baroque Vocal)
  • Peteris Vasks: Distant Light (Stanko Madic, for BR Klassik, Label of the Year)
  • Antal Doráti: Piano Concerto, Finale Presto (Oliver Triendl, piano – Special Achievement Award)
