Freedom of Music is a high-profile musical project that tells the story of Romanian freedom and represents a tribute to the freedom of expression and movement obtained 35 years ago, with the fall of communism which took place in several Eastern European countries.
Thus, works written in the diaspora by Romanian composers like George Enescu, Sabin Drăgoi, Mihail Andricu are brought to the fore. The concert program is completed with a Suite of Songs written by Dimitrie Cantemir and a first audition will be made, of the winning composition of the Call for Scores 2024 contest which had as topic the motto – Liberty through Music, won by the young Romanian composer Andrei Petrache. His opus is entitled December ’89 and is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Romanian Revolution of 1989.
This fascinating program is performed by some of the most appreciated Romanian musicians – violinists Maria Marica and Alexandru Marian, violist Irina Andriș and cellist Radu Sinaci, who form the RCO String Quartet. The concerts of the Freedom of Music Tour are held in Timișoara, Budapest, Poznan and Berlin, drawing the geographical outline of former communist Europe.
