The International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) announced the nominations for their Awards 2023: a total of 391 audio and video productions have been chosen. This year, for the first time, Papageno has also participated in the jury.
This year’s nominations include many renowned soloists, ensembles, conductors and orchestras as well as a lot of young musicians, many of them being first-nominees. A total of 391 audio and video productions (+14) from 117 labels have been nominated, in which there are also new releases by Emőke Baráth, Barnabás Kelemen, and Ádám Fischer, furthermore the jubilee complete recordings of late Zoltán Kocsis.
To become a nomination, a production needs to be proposed by at least two jury members. With 26 nominations, Alpha comes on the first place. It is followed by Harmonia Mundi (19) and Naxos (18). To see the full list of the nominees, click here.
The finalists will be known by 12 December. The winners of the prestigious ICMA Awards will be revealed on 18 January 2023. The Award Ceremony and Gala concert will take place at the NFM Philharmonic Hall in Wroclaw on 21 April 2023, with the NFM Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero.
