The Petervary Smart Piano Bench, the world’s first smart piano chair capable of sliding from one side to the other, is ready to conquer the world with its renowned functions and its contemporary design, which still pays homage to pianistic traditions.
Only a few weeks apart, the Petervary Smart Piano Bench, patented by Petervary Ltd, has already won two internationally renowned design competitions.
The judges are searching for timeless, high-quality design solutions in the Italian A’Design Award and Competition, which is one of the world’s largest, most prestigious and influential design awards. The Petervary Smart Piano Bench was awarded with an Iron rating, which is the highest achievement possible:
- The London Design Award competition recognizes outstanding, exceptional projects worldwide, in which both the concept and design of the bench won two gold awards, in the ‘Smart Technologies’ and ‘Media and Music’ categories.
- Simultaneously winning awards like these is a particularly high accolade, as the two competitions differ greatly compared to one another, yet both recognise the unicity of the product. The function-focused Nordic-Scandinavian and the visual aesthetic-focused Italian competitions both providing professional recognition is a major achievement.
The design element of the piano bench was created by Maform, an international innovation agency group founded thirteen years ago.
For the project launch, the Hungarian Development Bank (MFB) subsidiary Hiventures, the largest capital investment partner for Hungarian enterprises, provided the incubation funds.
As a result of this, Petervary Ltd. successfully created a prototype of the piano bench, meaning the startup can begin to market the product this year and prepare for sales.
The inventor of the product is a pianist himself, so it was requested by Maform – the designer – that when developing the bench, the pianistic traditions, developed over hundreds of years, shall continue to be respected in terms of visual design.
This is how the appearance was formed, with the device visually imitating a piano leg, including a control panel which grabs ones attention in a discreet manner as it contains the smart functions of the bench.
The form of the chair can never be autotelic as it must elevate the function in the direction of the aesthetic experience. The Maform team successfully solved this task, further confirmed by the awards we have won.
The Petervary Smart Piano Bench is the world’s first piano bench offering ergonomic functions, also capable of automatic height adjustment and sliding laterally, parallel to the piano keyboard.
According to the company announcement, the Petervary bench guarantees that pianists will now be able to play at their own, usual seat height to the exact millimetre at any piano, based on their pre-saved seat height profile.
The seat capable of sliding to the side, promising to keep the body position and the back in an optimal position, is certainly the most surprising piano chair innovation to date. But since there is hardly anything like this available on the market of chairs, the device that greatly assists piano playing has a good chance of success.
