Let a Master Pitch In! – this is the title of the international masterclass launched by the Sonus Foundation for the Support of New Music and Contemporary Performing Arts, the second season of which has recently finished. Participants talk about their experiences in brief videos.
Young composers who wanted to work on the further development of one of their pieces under the intensive mentoring of an internationally known and renowned composer professor took part in the masterclass, which took place in a brand new (online) format.
The four participants, selected from almost fifty applicants, worked under the guidance of Milica Djordjević, a Serbian composer living in Germany, and developed the idea of a piece they brought in intensive, personalized consultations.
The participants came from all over the world, from the Netherlands to Egypt. Hungary was represented by Ármin Cservenák, who in his piece puts the different forms and patterns of rotation into music and offers a three-dimensional sound experience.
At the end of the program, the young composers presented their work in a short video and reported on what they had learned during the master class. The videos, together with information about the next rounds of the program, are available on the website of the Sonus Foundation. The project was supported by the Hungarian Academy of Arts and the National Cultural Fund.
