A book summarising the 20-year history of VeszprémFest has been published, presenting the two-decade history of the premium music festival with reminiscences, interviews, behind-the-scene secrets, interesting facts, and illustrations never seen before in this form.
For the first time, those interested could take the publication in their hands at a full-house book launch at the Foton Audiovisual Centre in Veszprém, where people could also see a preview of the VeszprémFest20 concert film, soon coming to the cinemas.
The event was attended by Gábor Gellért, author of the book, László Bárány, director of the VeszprémFest20 film, which will be released soon, and Zoltán Mészáros, the managing director of VeszprémFest, and Erika Miklósa, Kossuth, Liszt Ferenc and Prima Primissima Award winner opera singer, President of the MOL New Europe Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Gyula Porga, the Mayor of Veszprém County, and Dr. Tibor Navracsics, Minister of Regional Development, were guests of honour, and gave welcome speeches.
Written by journalist Gellért Gábor, the book VeszprémFest20 is an exciting music panorama for all those who, as committed fans of quality festivals, are returning guests of the Veszprém Music Festival year after year, and also for those who, as lovers of jazz, funk, opera, world music or even quality pop music, still only consider buying a ticket for one of the concerts in July.
Where did the idea of Veszprém’s iconic festival come from and how did it evolve? How many Hungarian and international stars did it welcome on its stages with their unique atmospheres, which blend seamlessly with the city’s most beautiful locations? Besides being one of the defining concert venues of the Hungarian festival scene, how did it become of the defining ones on the international premium music scene? The 160-page booklet tells the reader everything there is to know about the first 20 years of the festival.
