Every year, the last Sunday in May is dedicated to children. In Veszprém and the Bakony-Balaton region, there are countless cultural and playful programmes for the little ones, from theatre performances to concerts and craft activities.
The Kabóca Puppet Theatre will bring to life the adventures of Miú the cat and Vau the dog on May 25th, while on the following day, they will perform the story of Little Red Riding Hood for a young audience. The Petőfi Theatre in Veszprém will host a variety of family activities, including a police dog show, quizzes, a musical show, and the Fehérlófia BonBon matinee.
On May 26th, the GyereKert festival, a beloved event for children, will take place in the Veszprém Theatre Garden. The day will feature a concert by Ági Szalóki, a performance of Comedy Express by the Bahorka Company, and appearances by Masni, Pocó, and Réka Mihályi. There will also be hands-on activities, workshops, games, craft activities, and a children’s drawing exhibition showcasing the memories of the EKF year. For older children, there will be an exciting program called „Design, print in 3D” at the Digital Knowledge Centre, where they can learn about the technical aspects of 3D object creation.
In Nagyvázsony, the Children’s Day Cavalcade at the Kinizsi Castle offers a range of activities, including games, fencing lessons, archery, handicrafts, horse riding, story shows, and pony rides. In Vonyarcvashegy, there will be a children’s day event alongside the beach opening, featuring performances by various musical groups, theater shows, and demonstrations of police and fire trucks, quad bikes, rallycross cars, boating, and water bikes. The day will end with a children’s concert by the Gyöngyözön Orchestra.
In Keszthely, the Children’s Day program includes board games, interactive concerts, dance shows, rope jumping performances, and a dance party. The Bishop’s Palace in Sümeg will host an exhibition transformed into a playground for Children’s Day. On 26th May, the children will also take centre stage at a special venue, the Szántódpusztai Majorság. In the Living Major, visitors can learn about the wasteland and its values, find out what it was like to be a child in the wasteland.
