The third edition of the Zoltán Kodály International Music Competition will be held in Debrecen from 5 to 13 July 2025, this time for brass players. Applications can be submitted on the competition’s official website until 31 January 2025.
After strings (2022) and conductors (2023), the Zoltán Kodály International Music Competition 2025 will be open to horn, trumpet and trombone players of all nationalities, aged 30 or under on the opening day of the competition (born on or after 5 July 1995).
The competition consists of four rounds: Qualifying Round, 1st Round, 2nd Round and 3rd Round. All rounds except the qualifying round are open to the public. Horn, trumpet and trombone players compete in the same category.
The jury of the Zoltán Kodály International Music Competition is chaired by Marie-Luise Neunecker and consists of Gábor Boldoczki, Abbie Conant, Frits Damrow, Gusztáv Hőna, Wim Van Hasselt and Szabolcs Zempléni.
The jury will select up to 18 competitors for the second round (at least 3 horn players, 3 trumpet players and 3 trombonists) and 6 for the final (at least 1 horn player, 1 trumpet player and 1 trombonist).

The professional partner of the organiser, the Kodály Philharmonia Debrecen, is Jeunesses Musicales Hungary, the Hungarian branch of the world’s largest youth music organisation. The Hungarian Academy of Arts and Hungaroton have offered special prizes until the competition is announced.
