On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the great Hungarian-Swiss pianist Géza Anda (1921-1976) yesterday a unique Piano-marathon took place at the brand new Kunsthaus building in Zurich surrounded by masterpieces of art history. Tomorrow there will be the main Mozart Birthday Concert in the Liszt Academy.
Since the creation of the international music contest „Concours Géza Anda in 1979 the Géza Anda Foundation organises one of the most demanding competitions for young pianists in Zurich every three years.
During 8 hours (from 18:00 to 02:00), into the birthday of the Jubilee, nine of the Laureates from the past 42 years of the Concours were playing short recitals of their ability unraveled by enthusiastic viewers in the art collection. The special Night-Event was a real Art-Experience.
Tomorrow 20th November at 19:00 there will be a Mozart Piano-Concert-Night in the main hall of the Liszt Academy with three former winners of the Concours. This Gala-Concert will be the highlight of the Celebrations for Géza Anda’s 100 Birthday.
