After the live preliminaries, the jury of the first Kodály International Music Competition made a decision on 20 June about who will take part in the semi-finals.
On 21 and 22 June, the first edition of the Kodály International Music competition will continue with the semi-finals where contestants will perform with piano accompaniment or in a duo.
According to the decision of the international jury headed by violinist Kristóf Baráti, 18 contestants can continue the competition.

During the first Kodály International Music Competition taking place between 17 and 26 June, young violinists, violists, and cellists compete against one another in the same category.
In addition to Kristóf Baráti (violin, Budapest), the international jury of the competition – with prizes worth a total of €45,000 – consists of teachers from the world’s most prestigious institutions: Vladimír Bukač (viola, Prague), Anne Shih (violin, Mainz), Denis Severin (cello, Geneva, Bern), Wilfried Strehle (viola, Berlin), Máté Szűcs (viola, Geneva), István Várdai (cello, Vienna), as well as General Music Director Dániel Somogyi-Tóth and chief conductor Imre Kollár from Kodály Philharmonia Debrecen.
All rounds of the competition can be attended in person free of charge, or they can be followed live online on the competition’s website and on Papageno’s Facebook page.
The Award Ceremony and the Gala Concert – where the best contestants will perform – will be held at 7 pm on 26 June in the Kölcsey Centre, Debrecen.
The competition is organized by Kodály Philharmonia Debrecen and Papageno, and its professional partner is the world’s largest youth music organization Jeunesses Musicales International.
