From 19 to 21 October, BUSH, the most exciting club festival in the Eastern European region, will feature 31 artists from 13 countries. Now in its seventh year, the festival will showcase the artists that make the region’s music scene tick, while the conference focuses on launching careers beyond artists’ home countries. BUSH is part of the Liszt Festival, and the festival’s professional partner is the Petőfi Cultural Agency – Hajógyár.
There is less than a month to go until BUSH, when Budapest’s nightlife venues will fill up for three nights with fresh, memorable performances. The festival has now announced the full lineup, with eight more artists joining the already announced Ivan Dorn, Daniel Levi, Fran Vasilić, Mörk, Co Lee, 52 Hertz Whale, Amelie Siba, Alejas, Alfah Femmes, Brunettes Shoot Blondes, GranCanada, Jann, Monikaze, Laiho, Lash & Grey, OIEE, OSKA, Pantaloons, The Boondocks, Veni, Sofia Zadar, and Zimbru.
The lineup of BUSH 2022 is now complete with artists such as the hypnotic Czech dream-pop act teepee and the anthemic storytelling electronic-indie act Bel Tempo. As well as the energetic Czech electropop girl trio Viah and the exciting Hungarian psych-rock band Meteo, who will launch their latest EP at the festival.
We welcome the world-traveling, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Bruno Miguel from Portugal to get the crowd moving. Just as the homegrown Hungarian duo Chaos Chips are sure to turn up the dancefloor with funk-infused house music. Another world traveller, both Budapest and Berlin-based András Koroknay, the man behind SunMa brings inspiration from his meditative travels in India to the festival. Polish indie rock band The Cassino will be represented by its lead singer, and you’ll be left enchanted by the unique voice and heartfelt, honest songs of singer-songwriter Boebeck from Pécs.
This year’s concerts will take place in The House of Music Hungary, Rumbach Synagogue, Három Holló, Központ, Gödör Klub and Toldi, while the conference will be held in the Fészek Művészklub. BUSH not only brings together fresh and exciting performers, and musicians, but also their management with music industry pioneers visiting Budapest. Several successful careers and international collaborations have occurred thanks to the festival.
This year, visitors can learn from renowned music industry professionals such as booking agent Claudio Lillo — who represents ASAP Rocky, Nick Hakim and Jordan Rakei at the CAA —, Europavox organizer Francois Audigier, Napsugár Bardócz from Everybody’s management, IFPI Head Charlie Philips and Ivan Ivanov, Head of TuneCore for Eastern Europe. Joining them is Alin Vaida from Jazz in The Park Festival and Adam Kaňa from Czech Nerudny Fest. As well as Simon Goffe of London-based Worldwide FM and Founder of the We Out Here Festival — who also managed Roni Size for ten years — and Patrick Ross of Music Alley. Booking agents André Marmot (Earth Agency) and Stuart Kennedy (ATC) will also join the conference lineup.
The conference will boast several exciting topics, including how a small, locally-based band can build international interest and gain a larger online audience. The topic of online presence will continue to be in focus, as musicians still struggle to earn a living in a post-pandemic world. You’ll be able to dive into panel discussions on sync and merch but also on how artificial intelligence can contribute to the music industry.
BUSH’s professional partner this year is the Petőfi Cultural Agency – Hajógyár, who supports the event with bands and professional programmes. The club festival will again take place in the framework of the Liszt Festival and discounted season tickets and day tickets are now available on the festival website: www.lisztunnep.hu
