Máté Balogh’s hommage to Ligeti, Horn Speech 2023 won the first prize at the joint competition of the Czech Institute for Microtonal Music and the Academy of Performing Arts Prague.
A total of 26 entries from all over the world were submitted to the competition, and four of these were awarded in the following order:
- Máté Balogh (HU): Horn Speech 2023 (25.89 points)
- Sonia Rodríguez González (MEX): Antima (25.73 points)
- Giulia Monducci (ITA): AZIMUTH (25.43 points)
- Marjan Chalengar (IR): 10th Day (25.27 points)
Microtonal Horn Speech 2023 is an hommage to György Ligeti on the 100th anniversary of his birth. The piece received the highest mark and will be presented on 29 April at the MicroFest Prague by Daniel Costello.
