Within the frame of the Annual Meeting of the European Music Council (EMC) the members have elected a new board on 10 June 2023, for the next 2 years.
The EMC Board is comprised of 7 representatives of EMC members to decide on content and the strategic outline.
Audrey Guerre – as Chair (Live DMA – European Network for Live Music Associations)
Audrey Guerre is the coordinator of the Live DMA network. She has been deeply involved in the development of the organisation on the strategic and political levels as well as on the implementation of the activities and the management of the network of members. She was committed as Vice Chair of the EMC for the last two years. She is particularly active in supporting the EMC towards the European institutions, advocating for the 5 Music Rights and in developing relevant European policies.
Michalis Karakatsanis – as Vice Chair (International Association of Music Information Centres, IAMIC)
Michalis Karakatsanis is the administrator of the Cyprus Centre of Music Research, Innovation and International Networking, a development programme initiative of the Organisation for European Programmes and Cultural Relations. With over 20 years of experience in the cultural and creative industries, Michalis has worked internationally as an expert focusing on the bottom up development and new cooperative business models. Michalis has served as President of the board of the International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC).
Niels Græsholm – as Treasurer (International Federation for Choral Music, IFCM)
Niels Græsholm is associate professor of choral conducting and adjacent subjects at the University of Copenhagen. He is also a music school consultant and senior advisor to the Danish Arts Council and Ministry of Culture as well as Chairman of the Nordisk Korforum and board member of IFCM. He has degrees in music education in both classical, jazz and ethnic music, in conducting and choral pedagogy and a Master of Public Governance. He has taught music for more than forty years at a large variety of music institution in Denmark.
Angharad Cooper (Center for Music Ecosystems)
Angharad Cooper is an experienced consultant with a focus on working with clients seeking to achieve social change and impact via music projects and music policy. Her primary role is as Head of Projects for the Center for Music Ecosystems – the Estonian-registered NGO conducting research supporting the advancement of music policy worldwide, with clients including the United Nations Development Program, the Nordic Culture Fund, and where she has also established the Center’s Youth Council.
Mila Georgieva (Bulgarian Music Association)
Mila Georgieva has more than 15 years of experience in the field of culture management and promotion of the Bulgarian music scene around Europe and beyond. She has been involved as project leader in different international projects in the field of music, arts, culture and education. Since 2015 Mila is a member and Vice President of the Managing Board of the Bulgarian Music Association. She is responsible for the international activities of the organisation and her main cause is aimed to support Bulgarian musicians to participate in the international stage and become part of the international cultural process.
Joanna Grotkowska (Polish Music Council)
Joanna Grotkowska, musicologist, music critic and journalist, has been involved in the Polish Music Council activity for more than 16 years. Since 2019 she is a Vice President of the Polish Music Council. For almost three decades she has been active as a Polish Radio music journalist achieving an outstanding position in the Polish music society and as a competent and persevering new music promoter.
David Zsoldos (Jeunesses Musicales International, Hungarian Music Council)
David Zsoldos, Founder and CEO of Papageno (Budapest), started off as a successful pianist, giving solo and orchestral concerts from Los Angeles to Salzburg. As a journalist, communication & media expert and event manager he has been involved in high profile projects around the world e.g. Sziget Festival, Cirque du Soleil, Cliburn Competition. He is the President of the Hungarian Music Council and board member of Jeunesses Musicales International and jury member of International Classical Music Awards.
