The CMO Consortium is launching a new series of online conducting masterclasses. Three masterclasses are already announced: Leonard Slatkin will give two masterclasses on Copland and Gershwin masterworks in September 2023. Frédéric Chaslin will present a Puccini masterclass in November and John Axelrod will present Bernstein symphonies in December. More conductors are lined up for 2024.
Says CMO Founder and Artistic Director John Axelrod, ‘There is a huge global demand for conducting training. Masterclasses with orchestras are the norm as I have done in Bucharest and Sapporo, but during Covid, I saw the opportunity to provide online masterclasses for conductors. Since 2020, over 100 conductors have benefitted from online training at Conductors Masterclass Online, with some going on to win competitions and jobs. With the CMO Great Maestros Masterclass Online Series, CMO will reach a worldwide audience of conductors and create a catalogue of online masterclasses for future access and education. I am grateful to Maestro Slatkin for his acceptance to start the series. More great maestros to come!’
