Classical Me has opened registration for the „Spotlight on Music – Journalism for the music sector”, a one-week creative urban start-up camp in Timisoara, Romania, from 30 August to 5 September 2024, under the Erasmus+ programme.
In the dynamic world of the music industry, new artists are constantly emerging, and trends are rapidly evolving. Music journalism plays a pivotal role in shaping narratives, influencing public opinion, and providing valuable insights to both fans and industry professionals. Music journalists serve as storytellers, critics, and curators in the industry, bridging the gap between artists and the audience.
Following the narrative that fewer and fewer specialists are following the path of music journalism, this training aims to train talented and passionate young people in the field and to offer them new professional perspectives.
This year’s program focuses on providing a comprehensive insight into the role of an editor in the cultural sector, also offering the opportunity for one of the 10 Romanian participants to kick-start their career with a flexible job as a writer for a classical music publication.
You can apply if you:
- are between 18 and 35 years old
- are from Romania (we will cover meals and public transportation for those from outside of Timisoara) or Hungary (we will cover transportation, food and accommodation)
- are a music or journalism student (to-be)
- have a passion for music, writing, journalism, or the complete package
- you can write a motivational letter of one-page minimum, explaining why this training would be a match and an opportunity for you, using those writing skills at max
- have an have an updated CV in English, Europas format;
- speak and write English at an intermediate to advanced level
You’ll learn:
- Cultural journalism – from David Zsoldos, the Founder and CEO of Papageno, one of the most relevant classical music publications in Hungary
- Creative writing – from Serhan Bali, a cultural journalist with more than 20 years of experience in the field, currently working for the Turkish publication Andante
- Marketing in the cultural sector – from Gábor Egri, who worked at Müpa Budapest as a senior marketing, communications and advocacy officer. It is a true cultural brand in Hungary, combining several artistic disciplines and disciplines.
Each training day will be 6 hours long, with breaks include. Personal laptops are required during the sessions. Following the call, 10 Romanian and 5 Hungarian participants will be selected. Partners: Jeunesses Musicales, Scena Muzicală.
