The book, which has found many successes in Europe since its publication at Mariner Books in 2014, can reach American readers in the translation by Ottile Mulzet. In connection with the book, Rebecca Makkai wrote in The New York Times that „The timing is perfect: The novel reaches an American audience at a moment when we’re feeling not only the seismic shifts of historical change, and the hard reckoning after a strongman’s fall”.
